Three quick questions. Your answers stay on this page — nothing is sent anywhere.
First: which apps do you use to get bookings? Add all of yours. If some people call, message or walk in, add "Booked direct" too.
For each app: roughly how many bookings you got, and roughly what a usual job costs. Guessing is fine.
| App | How many bookings? | Usual price | Money in |
|---|
Have a list of bookings from your app's reports page? Paste it here — we'll read it for you. Not sure how? Just use "Type it in" above instead.
Tips for pasting (optional)
- Any list with prices works. If you can, add a Source column saying where each booking came from (Fresha, Treatwell, walk-in…).
- Bookings that never happened — mark the Status "No show" or "Cancelled" and we'll leave them out.
- Short lines work too, like
45, Treatwell.
Extra settings (you probably don't need these)
The app fee numbers we use are typical ones — you can check and change them in step 2.
What the apps charge
We've filled in typical numbers, so you don't have to. Know your exact rates? Check them here.

These are typical prices and they change now and then — check with your app to be sure.

How we worked this out
What if some customers booked you directly?
Apps charge you every time they send you a customer. Customers who book you directly are free. Drag the slider to see the difference.
What if you ran your own booking page?
For customers who book you directly, you don't need an app at all. Here's what it would cost — and what you'd keep.
What it costs
- Your own web addressabout £1 a month (£12 a year)
- A booking page£0 — free tools do this well
- Card paymentsthe same small fee you already pay
- Setup timeabout an hour, once
Apps are still worth it for finding new customers — your own page is for the regulars. See the slider above for a realistic halfway number.
How to save that money
Simple things to do, starting with the one that saves the most. We tell you exactly what to say.
Get found by more people
Saving fees is half the story — here's how new people find you in the first place, on AI and in the app.
When people ask AI 💬
More and more people ask ChatGPT or Google things like "where's a good hairdresser near me?" Here's how to be the answer:
- Claim and complete your Google Business Profile — photos, opening hours, services, prices.
- Collect fresh Google reviews — ask happy customers, and always reply to them.
- Get listed on local directories — Yell, Facebook, and yes, Treatwell — AI tools read them all.
- Say your services and your town clearly everywhere — AI recommends what it can understand.
Inside the Fresha app 📲
When someone searches in Fresha, they see a ranked list. You rank higher when you:
- Keep your profile complete with good photos — profiles with photos get booked far more.
- Leave slots open — an empty-looking calendar ranks lower and gets fewer taps.
- Reply fast to new requests — response speed counts.
- Keep prices clear and collect a review in the app after every visit.
This is exactly what our Local Visibility service does for salons — book a free call and we'll do it with you.

FAQ
Quick answers before you trust the numbers.
Do my numbers get sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside this page in your browser. Your answers are only saved on your own device, and pressing "Start over" at the bottom wipes them away.
How do you know what each app charges?
They're typical prices, and apps change them now and then. Press "Show the fee numbers we used" in step 2 to see exactly what we counted, and change anything that doesn't match what your app charges you.
Fresha doesn't charge for bookings from my own page — do you know that?
Bookings marked as direct, own link, website, walk-in, phone, WhatsApp, Instagram or referral are counted as "Booked direct" — no app takes a cut of those. Bookings marked Fresha or Treatwell are counted under that app. You'll see the split in the table.
What's a no-show?
A no-show is someone who booked but never came. If your list marks them (like "No show"), we leave them out of your earnings and show you how much they cost you instead.
My app isn't in the list — can I still use this?
Yes. Tick Another app in step 1, type your bookings for it, and tell us what it charges in step 2.
Why look at the year and not just the month?
Fees feel small because they come out bit by bit. Add up a whole year and it's often thousands. Run your numbers above and see what a year of fees could buy instead — a holiday, a new chair, or a big advertising budget.
